A Servant's Heart

More Thoughts on How Christians Should Live:

Love must be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. Show family affection to one another with brotherly love. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lack diligence; be fervent in spirit; serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Be in agreement with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Try to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes. If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone. Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for His wrath. For it is written: Vengeance belongs to Me; I will repay, says the Lord. But:

If your enemy is hungry, feed him.
If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
For in so doing
you will be heaping fiery coals on his head.
Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
I think it is good to read a section of the Bible over and over again and think about it through out the day. That way the part of the bible that I'm studying can start to sink in better.
Sometimes it is hard for me to really live a life for Christ. That is way I really like this section of verses, because it gets down to the point of how I'm suppose to be living my life.
Here is my challenge: this week think about these verses and really think about them and let them sink in. When something comes up in life go back to these verses and let them guide your actions.

Praise Jesus!

So, I have a God story for all you guys. Yesterday I went out to Miracle Ranch with my friend Sophie to go riding. I was going to ride Shadow, so I went out to the pasture to catch him. He was laying down. It is common for horses to lay down, but Shadow didn't want to get up. Katy came over and we got him up. He took a few steps, then laid back down. We put a halter on, and got him back up, and took him to a stall to see if he would eat. He didn't. Instead he tried to lay down in his stall. We took him off of the cement and brought him in the grassy catch pen area where he laid down. Once we got the horses who we were going to exercise ready we took them and shadow down to the arena.
There is a big grassy field that Katy let Shadow free in by the arena. On their way to that field Shadow tried to lat down in the parking lot.
Shortly after that Dana showed up to take a look at Shadow. She is one of the people who oversees the horses. She took him for a walk around camp so that he would move instead of just laying down. She also called for the vet.
Shadow looked so sad whenever I looked in his eyes. He was not feeling so good.
While we were waiting for the vet, the Chase family (The people in charge of camp) came and we all prayed for Shadow. When the vet was almost there Katy and Dana walked shadow up to the barn. Sophie and I took the other horses up shortly after that.
When we got there, the vet was pumping Shadow full of fluids. He had a gas colic. Basically it was like he was really really constipated and he just needed to poop and get it all out. The thing we were most worried about was that his gut might have twisted.
Once the vet did all that she could for him she said it was out of our hands.
Katy, Sophie, and I did the only other thing that we could, and prayed over him, and anointed him with oil.
God heard our prayers and He answered them! Shadow is going to live!
God is real and alive and here. He can and does heal from horses to humans. And He does this because he loves us!

A Servant's Heart

Joseph's Dream

Christmas is getting closer. There are a bunch of people crowding the malls. Family's are making plans to get together. Yummy Christmas treats are baked. People are outside singing Christmas songs. There is still no snow. So many things are happening, and the true reason why we celebrate Christmas is covered up by the busyness of the Christmas season.
Last week I talked about Mary and her role in the story of how Jesus came to this earth. The next character I want to talk about is Joseph.
Now back in those days Joseph and Mary were engaged. They were practicably married, they just didn't live together. So, when Joseph heard that his wife-to-be was pregnant, he felt confused and sad. How could this happen? He wondered. Joseph was a good man though. Better then most, because he decided to divorce Mary in secret so that she was not disgraced her publicly.
Once he finished making sure his plan would work he went to his bed and fell asleep. The dream he dreamed that night was like no other dreams he had before. An angel appeared to him. The angel said, "Joseph, son of David, don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins."
That morning Joseph knew that God had spoken to him that night. The dream he had was to vivid, and to powerful not to have been from God. He knew that he had to take Mary as his wife no matter what his friends and family had to say to him about his decision.

Mary's Song

Christmas is a fun holiday that many people of all different cultures celebrate. Stores start selling their Christmas stuff in October. People start putting their Christmas lights up in November. On TV there is a bunch of Christmas shows you watch every year. Christmas music is playing on the radios. And people everywhere are having a bunch of Christmas parties. You have to buy gifts for all your friends and family. And you have to get together with your relatives and socialize for a few hours on Christmas day. And the worse part is you have to hear the same Bible story over and over again! Yep that's Christmas.
Unfortunately that seems to be what Christmas is for people. We stop listening to the story about Jesus because we hear it so much that we no longer get excited that, that story isn't just a story it has happened. That was in history! That is a cool thought!

Here is one of the main characters in this story, her name is Mary .This woman was probably around my age even a bit younger and she was engaged to Joseph.

Mary lived an ordinary life. She did normal house hold chores, visited some family, cooked meals. Then one day things changed when an angel of the Lord came to her and said, "Rejoice, favored woman! The Lord is with you."
This bothered Mary a bit. What is an angel of the Lord doing at my house? 'Why am I favored by God? What is going on?'
The angel knew that we was troubled so told her not to be afraid. Then he said, "You are going to have a son. He is the Son of God. Name him Jesus."
"Wait, how can this be? I am still only a virgin." Mary said.
The angel said, "That doesn't matter. You see, the Holy Spirit will come upon you. The power of God will overshadow you and you will have a son. That is why He will be called the son of God."
"I am the Lord's servant." Mary said. Then the angel left.
'I am going to have a baby! And not just any baby, He will be the son of God! What will Joseph say? God will take care of me.
A little bit later Mary went to visit Elizabeth who was also going to have a child.
"Mary! When I heard your voice the baby inside of me leaped! You are the most blessed women! Your child will be blessed! The mother of my Lord has come to see me! She who has believed is blessed because what was spoken to her by the Lord will be fulfilled!" Elizabeth shouted for joy.
Overcome with joy Mary lifted her face towards the heavens and sung,
“Oh, how my soul praises the Lord.
How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
For he took notice of his lowly servant girl,
and from now on all generations will call me blessed.
For the Mighty One is holy,
and he has done great things for me.
He shows mercy from generation to generation
to all who fear him.
His mighty arm has done tremendous things!
He has scattered the proud and haughty ones.
He has brought down princes from their thrones
and exalted the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away with empty hands.
He has helped his servant Israel
and remembered to be merciful.
For he made this promise to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his children forever.”

I will continue with Joseph's story next week.

Forever Reign

I love this song!

My Sis!

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12

"If you ever need a shoulder to cry on, i am here for you, if you ever need someone to laugh, and share memories with, i am here for you, if you ever just want someone there without ever saying a word, i am here for you, because in the truth of it all, i will one day need you for those very same things, and you know why it would be easy, because dear sister of mine, we're family, and i love you"

I'm smiling because your my sister, I'm laughing because there is nothing you can do about it!

A Servant's Heart

Today I was having a bad attitude. I was feeling frustrated with life and my focus was all on me. After church I came home asking God what I should write about tonight. I looked up a few things hoping for some inspiration but I couldn't find anything that would cheer me up. Then I saw this youtube video.

This reminded me that life isn't about me. Jesus died for me and I'm sitting around upset over nothing!
This week I challenge whoever is reading this post to remember how much Jesus loves you!

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
-John 3:16

This isn't just a verse that we all memorize when we are kids at church. This is truth.

Plastic Jesus

So I saw this video and it got me thinking. This is so true for a lot of people and it is sad. It's not just the people who didn't grow up going to church who need Jesus, it's also the ones who did grow up in the church, and who are growing up in the church as well. We all need Him!

Love Your Neighbor = Love Yourself

I was reading my devos for today and they were super good! It talked about loving your neighbor by loving yourself first. How can you love others if you don't like who you are? That would be hard because your love for others reflects on your love your yourself. (I'm not talking about standing in front of a mirror staring at yourself saying that your in love with you.) That's kinda weird.
What I am saying is God loves you. Since God loves you, you can love yourself too! He loves you a lot! you are something special to Him. How can we love others if we don't first realize that God loves us so we need to love ourselves?
Sometimes there is something in the way that makes it hard to love ourselves. For me every time I stumble and get into an argument with my mom I feel horrible at the end. I just want to yell at myself and say, "You dummy  You just had to go and mess up again." Later I will apologize to my mom and we forgive each other, but its hard for me to forgive myself.
The more I meditate on how much god loves me though, it gets easier for my to forgive myself from stumbling. And the more I have love for myself the more love I have for others. The more love I have for others I have an easier time not getting into arguments with my mom. I still stumble but I keep on working at that relationship.
What keeps you from loving yourself?
Have you ever asked God to forgive you of those things? Right now ask Him to forgive you.
Now you stand forgiven before a holy God. How does that make you feel?
Take a moment to forgive yourself. Ask God to help you completely forgive yourself.

Makin' Faces :p

Today for breakfast I decided to eat an egg. I opened the egg container and here is what I see!
All eggs: "Good morning!"
Boy egg: "So I was wondering...Would you like to go out with me?"
Girl egg: "I thought you would never ask!"
Right egg: "I just licked your face!"
Concerned egg: "Lord help this egg!"
Mean egg: "Eat me...I dare you."
Middle egg: "You can't eat me nah nah nah nah nah nah!"
Happy egg: " Your face looks soooo funny!"
Sad egg: "Please don't eat me. I'm too young to die!!"
Silent egg: "......."
Left egg: *Gasp*

Eggs really start to come alive when you draw faces on them! It's crazy!

God is Love

"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."
-1 John 4:8

Today in my devos it was talking about this topic and so it has been floating around in my head all day. What does this mean, God is love? What is Love?
God is love. The word love that we see here is agape. Agape is different from the love we have for food or friends or family or our pets. This is a divine love. This type of love is described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

"Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
 it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects,
always trusts,
always hopes,
always perseveres.
Love never fails."
-1 Corinthians 13:4-8

So if God = love, then that means this section of verses also describes who God is.
You could replace the word love with God and that is who God is.

"God is patient, God is kind.
He does not envy,
He does not boast,
He is not proud.
He is not rude,
He is not self-seeking,
 He is not easily angered,
He keeps no record of wrongs.
God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
He always protects,
always trusts,
always hopes,
always perseveres.
God never fails."

The really cool thing is this love, God's love is unconditional and he lavishes this love on us!

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him."
-1 John 1:3

Here are a bunch more verses that talk about love. The agape kind of love.

"By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
-John 13:35

"If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commands and remain in His love."

-John 15:10

"No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends."

-John 15:13

"This hope does not disappoint, because God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us."

-Romans 5:5

"Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or anguish or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?"

-Romans 8:35

"Your every [action] must be done with love."

-1 Corinthians 16:14

"For you are called to freedom, brothers; only don't use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love."

-Galatians 5:13

"[I pray that] you, being rooted and firmly established in love,"

-Ephesians 3:17

"But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head —Christ."

-Ephesians 4:15

"[I want] their hearts to be encouraged and joined together in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding, and have the knowledge of God's mystery —Christ."

-Colossians 2:2

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

-Colossians 3:12-14

"No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and His love is perfected in us."

-1 John 4:12

A Servant's Heart

Here is what you need to do:
- Find the state you live in. Circle it.
- Put a star where your city is.
- Stop and pray that God would help His people raise up and be a light in your community.
- Write down three needs you  know the people in your community have.
- Pray for those needs in your community.
- Pray that God would give you a passion to meet those needs in His name.

Prayer is super important in our walk with Christ. It is also important to be praying for the people around us in our families, schools, churches, neighborhoods, communities.... My challenge for you is to spend a whole day praying for everybody you come in contact with.

This is amazing and it got me thinking! It's a real good youtube video so I'm going to post it here!

Connecting With God

This was my devos yesterday and it was soooooo good! So I am going to share it here.

Keeping Your Relationship With Jesus Alive

This is love: not what we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
-1 John 4:10

Keeping your relationship with Jesus is about loving Him with everything in you. It is not about doing things to see how good you can be. It is about loving Him with every action you take. It is not about playing the "church game" or seeing how spiritual you can look. It is about loving God with your whole being, the very core of who you are.
The relationship God wants with you is one in which you love Him with everything you are because you know He loves you with everything He is.
The Bible says, "God is love" (1 John 4:8). Anytime you get close to God, you're getting close to love. It's what He is made of. He wants a relationship in which you love Him willingly and are able to receive His love.
A lot of people think that having a relationship with god is just about following a bunch of rules and regulations and being good so that God will love you more. It has nothing to do with that. It has nothing to do with whether you keep the rules or not. He loved you before you ever gave your heart to Him. When you begin to understand His love, you want to love Him back.
God's love is about having a real relationship-a friendship-with Him, and becoming the person you have always wanted to be and He wants you to be. Because you have fallen in love with the most incredible God of all humankind and realize that He is real, you want to follow Him with all your heart.
No one in the world loves us enough to die for us, especially if they knew all of our worsts secrets. But that's what God did for each of us. Think about this: God loved you first, even before you loved Him.
Take a few minutes to meditate on what Jesus did for you.

Psalms 67

May God be gracious to us and bless us;
look on us with favor

so that Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.
Let the peoples praise You, God;
let all the peoples praise You.
Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy,
for You judge the peoples with fairness
and lead the nations on earth.
Let the peoples praise You, God,
let all the peoples praise You.
The earth has produced its harvest;
God, our God, blesses us.
God will bless us,
and all the ends of the earth will fear Him.

Connecting With God

Today I got two devos that I am super excited about doing! One is called "Connecting With God" and the other one is called "Reverb." Both of them are about Getting to really know God, and then living completely for Him!

So anyways, how do we connect with God? For most Christians God is someone really, really, really big who lives up in heaven, and He made us, and He loves us so much that He sent His son to die for us. That is who God is to them, and getting to have a personal relationship with Him never really clicked to them. That's how I felt before I really started to know Him.
But God is so much more than that! He wants to be that person in our lives that we go to with everything. I believe that God is raising up a super passionate on fire for Him younger generation. I want to be apart of that and not just sit and watch! I want to be giving my all for God! What about you?
So back to getting connected to God... We can start to know Him by reading our bible, going to church, praying, fellowshiping with other christians. But I think to connect with God and really develop a relationship with Him, we have to go even deeper. When we pray and talk to God, are we talking to Him like He's there, or are we talking to the air? God wants us to talk to Him, and He wants to say things back to us. There are so many verses in the bible that talk about prayer. I challenge you guys to google them.

With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and stay alert in this, with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
-Ephesians :18

Be alert in prayer, and pray all the time. Don't just make it a habit three times a day before you eat, do it all the time! It's sounds hard, but when you start telling God stuff you can't stop. That's how I feel anyways.
Paul tells us to "pray without ceasing" in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

I really like how this person puts it.

"For Christians, prayer should be like breathing. You do not have to think to breathe because the atmosphere exerts pressure on your lungs and essentially forces you to breathe. That is why it is more difficult to hold your breath than it is to breathe. Similarly, when we are born into the family of God, we enter into a spiritual atmosphere where God's presence and grace exert pressure, or influence, on our lives. Prayer is the normal response to that pressure. As believers, we have all entered the divine atmosphere to breathe the air of prayer."

Praying and spending that time will make a huge impact on your walk with God. It definitely has for me! I enjoy listening to IHOP because these people are always 24/7 praying and singing to God. It is incredible! They encourage me to pray more and worship God. That's what we all should be doing is praying more and worshiping God! So that is my challenge to whoever reads this post. This week really spend that time with God. It will be amazing.

Websites you guys should look at:

Also side note...This is my 100th post!!!!
