God is Love

"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."
-1 John 4:8

Today in my devos it was talking about this topic and so it has been floating around in my head all day. What does this mean, God is love? What is Love?
God is love. The word love that we see here is agape. Agape is different from the love we have for food or friends or family or our pets. This is a divine love. This type of love is described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

"Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
 it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects,
always trusts,
always hopes,
always perseveres.
Love never fails."
-1 Corinthians 13:4-8

So if God = love, then that means this section of verses also describes who God is.
You could replace the word love with God and that is who God is.

"God is patient, God is kind.
He does not envy,
He does not boast,
He is not proud.
He is not rude,
He is not self-seeking,
 He is not easily angered,
He keeps no record of wrongs.
God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
He always protects,
always trusts,
always hopes,
always perseveres.
God never fails."

The really cool thing is this love, God's love is unconditional and he lavishes this love on us!

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him."
-1 John 1:3

Here are a bunch more verses that talk about love. The agape kind of love.

"By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
-John 13:35

"If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commands and remain in His love."

-John 15:10

"No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends."

-John 15:13

"This hope does not disappoint, because God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us."

-Romans 5:5

"Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or anguish or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?"

-Romans 8:35

"Your every [action] must be done with love."

-1 Corinthians 16:14

"For you are called to freedom, brothers; only don't use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love."

-Galatians 5:13

"[I pray that] you, being rooted and firmly established in love,"

-Ephesians 3:17

"But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head —Christ."

-Ephesians 4:15

"[I want] their hearts to be encouraged and joined together in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding, and have the knowledge of God's mystery —Christ."

-Colossians 2:2

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

-Colossians 3:12-14

"No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and His love is perfected in us."

-1 John 4:12

A Servant's Heart

Here is what you need to do:
- Find the state you live in. Circle it.
- Put a star where your city is.
- Stop and pray that God would help His people raise up and be a light in your community.
- Write down three needs you  know the people in your community have.
- Pray for those needs in your community.
- Pray that God would give you a passion to meet those needs in His name.

Prayer is super important in our walk with Christ. It is also important to be praying for the people around us in our families, schools, churches, neighborhoods, communities.... My challenge for you is to spend a whole day praying for everybody you come in contact with.

Connecting With God

This was my devos yesterday and it was soooooo good! So I am going to share it here.

Keeping Your Relationship With Jesus Alive

This is love: not what we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
-1 John 4:10

Keeping your relationship with Jesus is about loving Him with everything in you. It is not about doing things to see how good you can be. It is about loving Him with every action you take. It is not about playing the "church game" or seeing how spiritual you can look. It is about loving God with your whole being, the very core of who you are.
The relationship God wants with you is one in which you love Him with everything you are because you know He loves you with everything He is.
The Bible says, "God is love" (1 John 4:8). Anytime you get close to God, you're getting close to love. It's what He is made of. He wants a relationship in which you love Him willingly and are able to receive His love.
A lot of people think that having a relationship with god is just about following a bunch of rules and regulations and being good so that God will love you more. It has nothing to do with that. It has nothing to do with whether you keep the rules or not. He loved you before you ever gave your heart to Him. When you begin to understand His love, you want to love Him back.
God's love is about having a real relationship-a friendship-with Him, and becoming the person you have always wanted to be and He wants you to be. Because you have fallen in love with the most incredible God of all humankind and realize that He is real, you want to follow Him with all your heart.
No one in the world loves us enough to die for us, especially if they knew all of our worsts secrets. But that's what God did for each of us. Think about this: God loved you first, even before you loved Him.
Take a few minutes to meditate on what Jesus did for you.

Psalms 67

May God be gracious to us and bless us;
look on us with favor

Selah

so that Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.
Let the peoples praise You, God;
let all the peoples praise You.
Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy,
for You judge the peoples with fairness
and lead the nations on earth.
Selah
Let the peoples praise You, God,
let all the peoples praise You.
The earth has produced its harvest;
God, our God, blesses us.
God will bless us,
and all the ends of the earth will fear Him.

Connecting With God

Today I got two devos that I am super excited about doing! One is called "Connecting With God" and the other one is called "Reverb." Both of them are about Getting to really know God, and then living completely for Him!

So anyways, how do we connect with God? For most Christians God is someone really, really, really big who lives up in heaven, and He made us, and He loves us so much that He sent His son to die for us. That is who God is to them, and getting to have a personal relationship with Him never really clicked to them. That's how I felt before I really started to know Him.
But God is so much more than that! He wants to be that person in our lives that we go to with everything. I believe that God is raising up a super passionate on fire for Him younger generation. I want to be apart of that and not just sit and watch! I want to be giving my all for God! What about you?
So back to getting connected to God... We can start to know Him by reading our bible, going to church, praying, fellowshiping with other christians. But I think to connect with God and really develop a relationship with Him, we have to go even deeper. When we pray and talk to God, are we talking to Him like He's there, or are we talking to the air? God wants us to talk to Him, and He wants to say things back to us. There are so many verses in the bible that talk about prayer. I challenge you guys to google them.

With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and stay alert in this, with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
-Ephesians :18

Be alert in prayer, and pray all the time. Don't just make it a habit three times a day before you eat, do it all the time! It's sounds hard, but when you start telling God stuff you can't stop. That's how I feel anyways.
Paul tells us to "pray without ceasing" in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

I really like how this person puts it.

"For Christians, prayer should be like breathing. You do not have to think to breathe because the atmosphere exerts pressure on your lungs and essentially forces you to breathe. That is why it is more difficult to hold your breath than it is to breathe. Similarly, when we are born into the family of God, we enter into a spiritual atmosphere where God's presence and grace exert pressure, or influence, on our lives. Prayer is the normal response to that pressure. As believers, we have all entered the divine atmosphere to breathe the air of prayer."

Praying and spending that time will make a huge impact on your walk with God. It definitely has for me! I enjoy listening to IHOP because these people are always 24/7 praying and singing to God. It is incredible! They encourage me to pray more and worship God. That's what we all should be doing is praying more and worshiping God! So that is my challenge to whoever reads this post. This week really spend that time with God. It will be amazing.

Your Story

What is you story? Is it a good one, one that you want to tell someone about? Or is it one that you wish that you could rip out some pf the pages? What would make your story a good one?

1 Timothy 4:12

I love this verse! Us younger generation can make a difference and live for Jesus! This verse is great because it tells us to set an example for believers, not just the unsaved but for the saved. We can show everybody Christ by how we speak to others, how we live our lives, how we love others including those who are mean to you, and in purity. Live out your life for God! It doesn't matter how old you are. God's got plans for all of us, us younger generation and we can start making a difference for him today!

Seeing God in the Storm

This week I have been having a harder week than most. I have been having a hard time getting along with my family. This quarter at school is almost up so getting into classes next quarter is getting frustrating. I have a ton of homework and an essay due. I need to go to a deaf event for my ASL class. I've been busy most of my weekends at camp. I haven't been spending as much time reading my bible and talking to God. The list goes on and on! And on top of all of this, I have been struggling with frustration, anger, doubt... I feel like life is hitting me hard right now!
So today I want to post some encouragement for you and for me!

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

Deuteronomy 31:8

Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 55:22

I really like this song "Our God Reigns Here." God is reigning over in my life and He can make all this frustration that I feel leave and He will! He is doing it right now.
When I am feeling down, Jesus music definitely helps a lot! Also reading a few of the Psalms made me feel better. Oh and spending some good quality time with God always makes me feel a whole lot better!
One last thing that really helps when I am not in a good happy mood is listening to God stories. Hearing about what God is doing in other people's lives. I have been listening to these testimonies on IHOP and they are amazing! You should listen to them too! Go to http://www.ihop.org/weekendservices/archives/ and then click the testimonies tab!

Driftwood

When most people see driftwood they only see it as driftwood, except Heather Jansch. She has found a way to turn something as plain as driftwood into something beautiful!

I was thinking, and God is a lot like this sculptor. When we see driftwood we don't think much of it. We might even think that it clutters up the beach. The world looks at us and might not think much of us. Driftwood isn't gold or silver so how can it end up beautiful? We think we are fat, or have ugly hair or don't have a pretty face, and the world doesn't help. They tell us we need to look like those pretty girls on the magazines and buy those products they use. We want to be beautiful! God is our sculptor and He sees something beautiful out of our driftwood selves. He has made us into something beautiful and amazing, and now He is smiling down on us, telling us that we are His, and we are beautiful in His sight!

A Servant's Heart

There are so many topics on my mind that I want to talk about. But today I am going  to talk about God's love for us. Many of us who have gone to church has heard that God loves us. We hear it until we are tired of hearing it. We don't get it so we push it aside. It is something we hear at church, but have we heard it from our heavenly Father? Have we felt His presents and in that moment we knew that God LOVES us? God says to us, "You are precious in My sight and honored, and I love you." -Isaiah 43:4a
I love this verse because standing before God, He thinks I am precious! The God who made everything is looking down on each one of us and He thinks we are precious! We are honored in front of Him. He loves us!

"For He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will, to the praise of His glorious grace that He favored us with in the Beloved."
-Ephesians 1:4-6

God adopted us to be in His family! That is crazy and wonderful! It is so amazing that even though we are so small God loves us, and He wants to be with us. He wants to have this relationship with us and spend time with us. He wants us to come to Him and sit in His presence! That is amazing!

The King of heaven sold all that He has to purchase you! So that we my be adopted in His family His son Jesus died for us! We have been washed clean and have been forgiven! He has given all. Do we truly see how much He loves us? Open up your heart and seek God! He is incredible! Jesus though we were are worth it so He died for us! We belong to God.

I challenge anyone out there who is reading this to spend some time with God. Give Him all of your heart! Join this journey with me. It's the hardest but most rewarding journey we will ever go on! And next time you hear that God loves you, let it sink in. It's so true!

Jesus + Horses = Horsemanship Extravaganza!

Last weekend was crazy at camp! We had a group of 300 people, the harvest festival, horsemanship extravaganza, and a memorial service going on all at the same time! God was definitely there though because the weekend was very successful! I was able to be a counselor for the horsemanship extravaganza girls! I had the older group of girls in my cabin and my friend Morgan aka Snapshot had the younger girls. We had a great time. It is amazing that God has given me this job that I am about to tell people about Him and be with horses! He is great!
One amazing thing that God did for me last weekend was He filled my car's gas tank! Because I was volunteering last weekend I din't get paid so I told God that I needed more help putting gas in my car. I asked Him for gas and He provided! When I got in my car to go home, I had a full tank of gas! God is so good! I love how He takes care of everything even the little stuff.
